Hello everyone!
“As compared with Roman Catholicism or Eastern orthodoxy characteristic “Protestant” attitude tended to distrust the image in favor of the world.”
As part of Thursday’s(November 12) reading, the above quote was mentioned in the reading. This line made me think how we, as Christians, are to see and follow the image of the world. It is written in Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” I believe that as Christian we are not called to follow the world’s example but to be set apart. We are expected to fit in with everyone and to be the best we can be. I do not believe that we are to be like the world. We are not to conform to the image that the world places in front of us. The Protestant attitude described in this line from the reading does not have to be just for Protestants. As Christian we should maybe not completely distrust the image in favor of the world, but be able to know what is right and wrong.
