Superhero Jesus?

In the reading One Baaad Messiah i couldn't help but feeling offended when they were essentially bashing Jesus. This might be because i grew up thinking and being taught that Jesus was and is the best thing to ever walk this earth and that he is perfect and never did anything wrong (all true things). I disagree with most of the points, though i see where the author is coming from. Jesus was the superest of all the heroes. He literally gave his own life so that everyone to ever exist didn't have to. They said that Jesus could have fought back and gone out with a fury, and he had the power to yes, but this wouldn't have been the purpose of the act of laying his life down willingly. It shows much more love and strength to go without a fight than it does to fight. Any tough guy can beat people up, but it takes a real hero to willingly sacrifice himself for the people he is saving.
