Honoring Setsuko Hara

It was announced recently that on September 5, 2015, Japanese legend Setsuko Hara passed away, Time was given for the family to grieve until the announcement was made. I was really sad to hear this news, so I thought I would share some of her work with you all and tell a little bit about her and her work. Setsuko Hara was a Japanese actress from the 1930s to the 1960s. She was kind of like Japan's Audrey Hepburn. I am a big admirer of her work. Some of you might know her from Tokyo Story or Late Spring, which is what she was most known for, but my favorite film she starred in was No Regrets For Our Youth, by Akira Kurosawa. She gave a really lovely and heartbreaking performance, and the film is just wonderful. I am also a big fan of the animated film director, Satoshi Kon (1963-2010), and his film Millennium Actress is a wonderful animated film that is actually based off of the works of Setsuko Hara. I would strongly recommend looking up some of her films. They are certainly worth your time, and I can't do them justice in this blog.
