Documentaries II: The Power of Documentaries?

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good morning! Or noon, or afternoon, or night..whenever you are reading this. For this blog I am going to talk a little about the reading, “Documentaries II: The Power of Documentaries?” However, I am going to also piggyback on my previous post about the readings on Olinger and Banham’s film work.

Through Olinger and Branham’s work they used their films to inspire other and they took action to return to others. I ended my previous blog saying that films should have a purpose and direction behind them. Even more important, take what you love and make a difference for others. This reading begins with the hit document Super Size Me. I believe that this film is just another example of a film that was used to make a difference. Spurlock took his film and made it to meet the need of his certain audience for educational purposes. Not only did he make his film to educate others but but effect the way people ate. His film made a different to others to eat healthier. This is such a good example of how films can be used and should. He did not just use his film for entertainment but pushed for a physical outcome and change in others.
