I hope that everyone is having a wonderful day. Hopefully I can make it a little better with this fun and exciting blog! Today I am going to be coming from the readings of “Documentaries I: Can Films Save the World?”
The line that I chose to talk about in the reading is, “Often people come in, take their image and story and do nothing for them.” Although this whole reading is taking about saving the world through films, this line talks about one of the ways you can treat films. Through this article Olinger and Branham (filmmakers) talk about how their films are used to inspire other to take action and use their films to return to the communities from their films. I chose the above line from this article because I love the way that these two filmmakers used their films to help others. However, this did not just help people emotionally, but physically. Although we should be able to use our films not to just connect with others, but to also effect others. Films should have a purpose and direction behind them. It is a great inspiration to learn about just one group that uses their films in this way. Find the purpose and ambition behind what you do and what you love, even if it is not films.
