Un Jour's Portrays Emptiness

Thursday during class we watched a film called Un Jour. This film seemed really unusual at first but as it continued you started to connect different meanings. I am going to discuss the meaning that I came out with. When the film starts you are introduced with a women that has a man in her stomach. At first, at least for me, I though this meant she was pregnant. But then you see that there is literally a man sticking through her stomach. Immediately I thought, why is there a man through her stomach? Throughout the film though you start to sense that the man is a big part of her life. It's like their in a relationship. They work as a team together and do everything as one. For example, at one part of the scene they are going up the stair carrying groceries and puts them down half way through. The man through her stomach then picks them up and they continue going up the stairs. Working together they go through every day situations. At the end of the movie you see that the women no longer at the man through her stomach and instead she has a large hole. She is now empty without him. This film can be seen as different relationship and the effects they can have. This women had been going through life with this man and once he had left her she was now missing a part of her. I'm sure many of us have gone through relationships and breakups and you might have this same feeling. Feelings empty and as if you've lost a part of you. I love how this film shows this feeling and situation many go through.
