The xx - Islands

Hey All,

I just recently discovered the band The xx. Their most famous song is probably The Intro which was used in the movie Project X. One of their songs that I found is called Islands. The song itself is already a really cool song, but the music video for the song is way cooler. The entire video is basically a 10 second choreographed routine that’s just repeated over and over again with minor changes to each take progressively getting more and more built up. For example, each take starts with a guy and girl kissing and then pulling away from each other in a choreographed dance. Well, as the video progresses, the girl slowly starts pulling away from the guy until she eventually just walks away, leaving him to do the routine himself. Then, he realizes she’s gone and he leaves, too. Eventually, everybody involved in the routine ends up disappearing except for one dancer and the lead singer of the band. All the walls surrounding them start on fire and there’s just a dancer doing her routine and the lead singer is sitting on the ground sulking. I think it’s one of the coolest music videos I’ve seen because they tell a story through simply repeating the same visual image and then switching it up on the audience very subtly until it's no longer subtle anymore. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do!

P.S. Sorry it's just a link to the video. I couldn't get the attach a video button to work.
