Wow! Those were some pretty great music videos we saw last class!
Music videos in general are such a cool thing in my mind, especially when they're done well.
OK Go is by far is one of my favorites, because of their creativity in their videos. (but I'm getting off track now). What I wanted to focus on in this post was the music video we watched of Johnny Cash, as well as music in general. It's not often that I feel legitimately sad when listening to a song, and this music video actually accomplished that.
I had heard this song cover many times before, but it was something about "seeing the song" that made it more meaningful. There are always songs out there that we get attached to, because we relate to them in some way. In the same way, there are music videos that I really enjoy even if I don't care for the song that much, and as a result, I end up liking the song more. One example for me is a Kesha song called "Die Young," a song that I never would have found if it weren't for animation (sorry, not sorry live action folks). This is a fan animation of that song from Viziepop.
Does that ever happen to anyone else?
