Video games have changed immensely since we first started playing them. Although that statement is seemingly obvious, it's worth looking at. Video games have come a long way, from once being these simple creations, where you just played for fun, to full out movies in a sense with creative and deep storylines. Some of these storylines can be really emotional, for instance,
That Dragon, Cancer. Although many people complain about how creating a game about a child's death from cancer is morbid and disgusting, I think it's anything but. Everyone grieves in their own way and one way of grieving is through remembrance. For this family, remembrance is achieved through the making of this game to remember their boy, who tragically passed away. Video games have allowed this to happen and there is nothing wrong with that. I mentioned that video games have become a new form of cinematography, and they have. More and more games are releasing with detailed, emotional plots that make the game get more involved. Games are also relying more on storytelling techniques as well as the cinema style of filmmaking. The camera shots are revealing more of a story, which makes us as gamers more involved. Another good example of the video game cinematography that is happening would be Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Activision and Treyarch have normally been really good with the story lines for the games. With the release of Black Ops 3, that has increased dramatically. The story in this game is so life-like and real that it makes you feel like you are actually experiencing it. Video games will continue to grow and tell the stories of those who want to open their hearts and minds to that of a video game.
