"In Motion" A Red Bull Media House Production

In Motion kicks off with Mark McMorris, Terje Haakonsen, and Danny Davis snorkeling through deep, blower pow, that make you rethink every life choice you’ve ever made, because why isn’t that you riding those lines? Somehow, the trio make-do, and notably, Davis tweaks one of the most stylish tail grabs in recent memory. The X Games contest recap that follows lags a little, mostly because if you watched McMorris’s competitive season there’s nothing new to learn here. But then you’re treated to a tour through the many pow fields of Laax, Switzerland with Nicolas Müller pre-European Open, which is worth it just to hear this mystical mountain wizard speak. And ride. Müller’s trick and spot selection is always a study in style and imagination.
That’s only part of what happens in this documentary, and as you probably can tell, I’m a little bit of a powder junkie. This film only increased my love for documentary filmmaking on the sole fact of “why shouldn’t I absolutely love my career” when I hit the real world. This film explained that love for filmmaking in an hour and a half. The snow, the awesome tricks, the locations, everything. It is incredibly amazing! Through the shots and sound, this film made it feel so real and intense that I wanted to hit the powder right away. This type of film excites me so much because it combines everything I love in one project. The mission to tell a compelling story through snowboarding is one quite like none other, and is one I’d love to complete for the rest of my life.
