Hello,
Good Evening. Today in class when we watched the film Beauty Pressure it was so applicable to college and the stage of life we are living through. This film is so relatable and this is how society is today. Young girls are trying to be something they are not. Toddlers are trying to be in beauty pageants and compete in competitions hence the show Toddlers and Tiaras. Kids are looking up to the beauty industry and thinking they need to be in perfect shape and have those "body goals." The thigh gap and the perfect body are goals that females are so obsessed with and they are not important to the girls of this society. Instead of worrying about the body there is so much things you could do instead.
At the end of the video, it hit me hard when the text came up at the end of the screen and it said, "Talk to your daughter before the beauty industry does." The beauty industry has so many effects on women these days. It could lead to so many things like suicide, cutting, and other things that society is having problems with. Girls and even older women are so caught up in how they look that it is not enjoyable to go out and eat or hangout with friends or even family in public.
