Milan Harrison

My name is Milan Harrison and I am a Freshman at Huntington University. I am named after the city in Italy, which happens to be the fashion capital of the world, and the headquarters of Italy’s stock exchange. In my free time I enjoy making stop-motion LEGO films, drawing cartoons, playing the trumpet, and participating in basketball leagues. I was born in Costa Mesa, California, and spent most of my childhood in the area of Sacramento. It’s definitely going to be a challenge adjusting to the long snowy winters in Indiana. Back in California, we get ice cream trucks in February, so trekking on ice to classes will take me a while to get used to.

I find animation to be one of the most creative art forms in existence, hence, animation is my major. I love how through the collaboration of so many different departments (story, animation, layout, technical, etc.) there can be an entertaining film as a product of many years of labor. I associate animation to be some sort of magical trickery that I enjoy creating. A computer model, drawing, or puppet of a character is obviously not a real object, but the power of animation can create for an audience the belief that the characters are able to think and decipher for themselves.
