I tend to have a dark sense of humor, it's a mixture of my own thing, and a couple years in the infantry will do that to you. It helps me cope with things aren't very good, and sometimes just plain horrid. This being the case, I find it hard to share my dark sense of humor. When I share it I often receive blank stares that usually give off the "I don't know how to respond to that" kind of stare. Another thing I notice when talking to people is that they often are quick to point out something wrong or bad. Anywhere from their status being tired, or overloaded with homework, and while many of these things are true and common things with people of my generation, I think we're becoming a kind of serious cynical kind of people. While my humor is unusually dark, I feel many people miss the message or what I'm talking about, because they see these dark things to seriously.
Many times we don't see something for what it is, because we are to focused on what is wrong with it. This is a great mentality to have when trying to have or design the best possible thing for a given situation, but it is a poor lens to use when consuming media, and listening to what people have to say. It is easy for us to lose the message, because we are to serious about things that aren't perfect.
I think this generation can be great, I don't feel it's right for anyone to claim ours to be the worst generation ever (I guess this doesn't mean much coming from someone in the generation) I think we have a mindset ready to make some changes. I'm making it a personal challenge to not let every little thing that I think is wrong get to me so that I can put my focus and energy on something I can actually help fix.
