Peace Out Girl Scouts

Well, this is it.  I apologize for being completely uneducated in this field of study.  At least I was honest though and did not pretend like I knew what was going on because people like that in my opinion are the worst.  I will say though that I really have a new appreciation for art and specifically digital media because of this class.  I still do not understand a lot, but that is okay.  I think that is a really big thing that I learned in this class.  I do not need to understand something to appreciate it.  I also learned that it would be really good for me to seek out new ideas and hear them out.  Whether I agree with them does not really matter.  It is what I can learn from them that matters.  I was also challenged in this class to question.  Most of my classes this semester did that, but especially this one.  I think it was important that I had this class for the first semester of my college career, so that I can do that from now on.  I am going to learn a lot more because of it about who I am and how I view the world around me.  Now you guys do not have to suffer through my boring, uneducated blogs posts anymore! Phewww.  I wish you all the best of luck.

Christmas Is The Bomb.com

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, for real.  I love it.  I do not know many people that do not think that, but there are.  National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is by far the best Christmas movie.  I do not care who you are, or what your opinion is on that.  It is very unlike me to say that, so you know I am not messing around when I say that.  It is just a fact, but there are some other really good ones.  Elf is up there in my favorites too.  So many quotable lines in that one. White Christmas is a good one too because it is just classy.  A Christmas Story is great too.  That one is pretty funny.  Wow, I did not think I knew that many Christmas movies.  I am pretty impressed with myself.  The grinch is not a personal favorite, but I am not hating.  I still love it.  I just do not love it as much as some others.  There are so many great things about Christmas.  The spirit, giving, lights, hot chocolate, and all that good stuff are great, but Christmas movies are where it is at.  I could watch a Christmas movie or listen to Christmas music in June because I am that person.  It just puts me in such a good mood.

I Love Musicals.

Oddly enough, I love musicals.  When I sing I sound like a dying cat, but if you need someone that knows every single lyric to a song then I am your girl.  I like anything from Rent to High School Musical.  One of my favorites is probably The Sound of Music just because I have a lot of memories from watching that with my family growing up.  It is really funny to me that I did not understand the Nazi aspect of that movie until I got older, and that was a “since when” moment for me when I realized it.  That was kind of crazy to me, but it was also pretty cool.  I really like the movie Moulin Rouge.  Not enough people have seen that, and they need to because the fact that they have not makes me sad.  Now I know how you guys feel about that.  It makes me frustrated for you guys.  I go hard to the songs in that movie.  It is good stuff.  I just love them.  They are so fun.  I can do some more serious ones like Phantom of the Opera and I can do really cheesy goofy ones like hairspray.  I do it all.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

The fact that some people do not like Friends makes me incredibly sad for them.  Nothing against you if you do not, but I am just sad for you.  It is your loss in my opinion.  I can not even count the amount of times that I have watched all ten seasons.  It is a little bit pathetic, but ask me if I care.  Thanks Netflix.  Anyway, it is such an entertaining show in my opinion, and it is fun to rewatch because for one it is hilarious, but also because each time I rewatch an episode I pick up on different things that I had not realized before.  Not to mention that living in the middle of a cornfield does not really give me much to do.  I think one of the best parts about the show is that it is still relatable which it is not that old, but still.  Each character has a different perspective on life which teaches the audience a lot.  Viewers enjoy aspects of each person’s life.  Plus, like any television show once you are addicted and you get really into it you have an emotional attachment to the show and characters.  Sometimes I watch shows that I do not even necessarily like, but once I am hooked I am hooked.  There is no going back,  I have to know how it ends.  It is bad.

It Is Okay To Not Be Okay.

The movie inside out is amazing.  It is really refreshing to watch a children’s film that teaches kids that it is okay to be sad sometimes.  As we have been over before children’s films are for adults too.  I think in today’s society there is a lot of pressure to always be happy.  Living in America we are very fortunate and have a lot to be grateful for.  However, I think that we need to start being okay with being upset.  Our generation is terrible at confrontation and having conversations.  This probably leads into the reason why we are so dramatic about the prettiest things.  It is important that we learn how to deal with our emotions.  So, on one hand I think we need to start to learn how to deal with situations in a more appropriate manner, but I think that it is also important to understand that it is okay to have emotions.  Being human we are going to have feelings, but it is how we express those feelings that is important.  Inside out was not what I was expecting it to be from the trailers, but I still thought it was a really cute movie that had a lot of good messages in it.

Pink Nastiness.

Super Size Me is probably one of the only documentaries that I have ever watched, and it was disgusting.  It was extremely educational and useful, but it was very gross.  For those of you who have not seen it it is about this guy that eats McDonald's for a long period of time for every meal.  The effects that this guy experienced was crazy.  He basically got pretty sick which is crazy because he almost had to stop due to the seriousness of how extreme the effects were on him.  I am guilty of mindlessly eating McDonald, and you would think that this documentary would make me never want to eat it again which I feel like that could have been the goal.  However, it did not.  It is super disgusting and I sure that a lot of people after watching it stopped eating there.  Now McDonald's does not even have the super size anymore.  They made a lot of changes for the better like apple slices, but their chicken McNuggets are still made from pink mush.  You would think that would make me never want to eat there ever again, but yet I do.  Why?  It is probably because of how mindless we are due to advertisements, but who knows.  Not me.  That is for sure, but I am trying.

That Freaks Me Out.

Circuit Marine was just a sad story.  The poor captain.  It is so sad.  I enjoyed the simplicity of the film though.  The colors and patterns that were used were very appealing and fun to look at.  I mean if the point of that film was that we all die someday which it probably was not, but if it was then that is very true.  It is super scary and depressing, but it is true.  Personally, I do not like thinking about it.  It totally freaks me out.  Death in general is just freaky.  With not having a faith background I think it makes it even more freaky.  Not that anyone knows for sure, but I do not know what happens after death because I am still growing in my faith.  I really have no idea what this film was actually about, but that is what I thought of.  It terrifies me and it is pretty depressing.  It was obviously not the most depressing film that we viewed in this class, but I do not care to talk about the other ones because I do not really want to get into that.  I am really bad about talking about things that are serious, so I think that one of those things would be death.  So, we will just leave it at that.
