Good Morning/Afternoon/Night Everyone!
I trust you're all having a good(and probably cold) day. I'm going to be talking about the film we watched in pass on Thursday called Beauty Pressure.
Beauty Pressure is a short film that was produced by Dove. This film begins with a little girl looking into the camera. The music seems like it is anticipating something, almost as if it's building up. The scene then changes into multiple advertisements of nearly naked women flashing by. Women in bikinis, underwear, bras, or showing lips, legs, and eyes. Then a video shows of two women, barely dressed, dancing. Magazines, commercials, models, clothes then flash by along with words and images that make women 'ideal' in our society. How to fix ourselves to make perfection. How awful is that? Must we go through all this to make society except us? The quote that concludes this video is "Talk to your daughter before the beauty industry does." Although this video was eye opening to watch I believe this quote really wrapped it up. It's so sad what we think we should look like. What we should wear or not wear. I hope that, when I have a family of my own, I am able to raise my daughter to know she is beautiful; despite what anyone else thinks or says, especially society. We are created in God's image. Don't let anyone define anything past that.
