Alway Think Like A Kid

This entry is a little late to the game as I am talking about The Gospel as a Fairy Tale, but I wanted to craft the right words for what I am about to say. As kids we are often taught to have our minds open and have the best experiences possible. But as we grow up, we are looked down upon to have these thoughts. It seems sometimes as if our days of storytelling are done; that fairytales can no longer coincide with our lives. But after reading

“You must be willing to enter them in some measure as a child because it takes a child to believe in the possibility at least such places exist instead of dismissing them out-of-hand as impossible (pg.74),
I realized something. I filmmaker on YouTube that I look up to, Olan Rogers, once said in a video,
“I wanted to believe that I can still think like a kid. I have to believe that way of thinking can still exist. Even if it’s foolish and naïve, you can still do things just because they sound like fun. The years of pillow fights and box forts have to exist. They have to.”
I think Olan and the book hit this point right on the money. This documentary he did brought me some tears actually, and I’m not sure why. Looking back, I see now how vital fairy tales and our will to tell a story is to our creative powers. There is no more powerful medium than story telling and those moments where you can just let loose and do what you love and explore your talents is something that gives me goose bumps because there is not end to what we can do as creativists. I stay awake at night, my mind racing of all the opportunities and stories that are waiting for me to get out and tell. It scares me but it also amazes me. I post this entry not to really challenge anything but to fully agree with the power of fairy tales. And if anyone ever has ever had those moments of sleeplessness, please comment and reply to this because I would love to know and have a conversation about it because I get so excited about mine and everyone else’s futures and what they behold. Thanks for listening. Hope to talk soon.

  1. Its funny you would post this, I watched the documentary a couple of months ago, and it to, brought tears to my eyes.
And it made me super ecstatic that you posted about Olan Rogers. (He's probably my favorite person God created.....)

I know exactly where you're coming from! I get pretty enthusiastic thinking about what could happen, or what I might achieve later. I also get pretty excited and interested in what will happen to everyone else. The future is thrilling because ANYTHING could happen and I've never been so ok with that fact.
So thank you for your post, because it kind of brightened my night.
